Book presentation and new website
The number 12 is not only an important number in the cosmic building principle, but also for Dietmar Hager. On this day, November 12, the doctor and astrophotographer from Upper Austria launched his first book and his website for star enthusiasts, Sternwerkstatt. With his astrophotographs, publications and lectures, which he offers in the “Sternwerkstatt”, he wants to make the world of the stars accessible to others.
Over 100 people gathered in the Sternwerkstatt pop-up gallery in the Linzerie to listen to a reading from Dietmar Hager’s book “Vom Zauber der Sterne und dem Ende der Nacht”. The star friends were welcomed by Erich Pröll. The nature filmmaker known from the ORF series “Universum”, who shares a love of nature with Dietmar Hager, also wrote the foreword to the book.
“The Magic of the Stars and the End of the Night” is both a non-fiction book and an entertaining read. Dietmar Hager skillfully traces the arc from inspiring myths of our ancestors to the findings of modern science. The focus is on the stars, which are increasingly disappearing from our view due to light pollution.
The book is a fiery plea to return to nature, to encounter it openly and receptively and to maintain a connection with the cosmos.
It is self-published, printed on high-quality paper in Upper Austria and has an exclusive cover with gold embossing. Seven outstanding astrophotos can be found in the middle of the book. The work, which is also ideal as a gift for the upcoming Christmas season, also has a cosmic surprise moment that illustrates the principle of space and matter. The book is available on the new website sternwerkstatt.org.

The first address for stargazers on the Internet
At the same time as the book presentation, Dietmar Hager’s Sternwerkstatt also went online. The pop-up gallery in the Linzerie, where the star photographer’s award-winning astrophotographs are exhibited, now has a counterpart on the World Wide Web! At sternwerkstatt.org, handmade jewelry with star motifs are also available in addition to the limited-edition museum-quality pictures.
Dietmar Hager also presents his entire wealth of knowledge about the universe on the new website. Companies and groups can book these in the form of lectures or workshops.
